Paul Walsh, Senior Vice President
Leading the Business Solutions division at Atmospheric and Environmental Research, Paul Walsh helps companies affected by weather-related risks integrate weather and climate science into their business processes. Since 1997, he has helped business leaders in large corporations – as well as investors and analysts – use weather and climate intelligence to increase sales and profits. Prior to 1997, as a meteorologist in the United States Air Force, Paul provided weather-based intelligence support to war fighters and planners and served as the Chief Meteorologist for the commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Desert Storm. Paul’s observations on weather and climate impacts on business and the economy have been featured on CNBC, Fox Business News, the Business News Network and Bloomberg television and in over 100 publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, USA Today, The New York Times, Business 2.0, Forbes.
Kyle Beatty, Managing Director, Business Development
Kyle Beatty provides risk management and meteorological expertise for global customers in re/insurance, financial services, energy and other industries. He leads the development and customer adoption of weather/climate-related risk management and decision support products and services.
He has a track-record of success in product development, product marketing, operations, and business development roles that address needs of the global re/insurance industry. Prior to joining AER, Kyle worked with Willis Re, one of the three largest global reinsurance brokers. Over that time, Kyle led a team of catastrophe analysts at Willis Re that served North American P&C insurers, where he also served as the analytical advocate for multiple U.S. brokerage accounts. Kyle is a recognized expert of the Florida catastrophe insurance market and also has served as a bridge between the research and risk management communities as the North American liaison for the Willis Research Network. Prior to his role at Willis, Kyle worked for Risk Management Solutions (RMS) where he directed a team of model managers in business planning, marketing, launch, and support of Cat models and products. Kyle has the unique ability to grasp complex scientific topics and break them down for others to easily understand, leveraging prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist. Kyle earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Oklahoma, serves as chairperson of an American Meteorological Society (AMS) board focused on private sector meteorology and is an AMS Certified Consulting Meteorologist.
Steve Massa, Director, Data Services
Steve Massa is Director of Data Services at AER. He has over 25 years experience in the semiconductor and weather industries. During his 10 year career in the weather industry he has held various management positions in both marketing and product development. He has worked extensively to create and market products that address the short term (1-30 day) and seasonal (1-3 month) forecasting requirements of companies in the Energy, Financial, Retail, Aviation and Media markets.
He received a BS in Engineering Technology (1982), and a BS in Electrical Engineering (1983) both from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, MA. as well as a Masters in Management (1989) from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. He also received a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology (2001) from Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS.
Brenda Kelly, Vice President, Strategic Communications
Ms. Kelly provides leadership on strategic communications and spearheads the company’s global marketing strategy. Prior to joining AER, Brenda co-founded SupplyScape where she worked with companies across the pharmaceutical supply chain to reduce counterfeiting and fraud by improving their business processes. Earlier she marketed collaboration solutions at IBM. For over 25 years she has contributed to the growth and success of clients across the globe as they adopted innovative data applications. She earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
