AER, Inc. Acquires Radex, Inc., Broadening Its Environmental Modeling and Defense Support Capabilities

Lexington, MAJuly 16, 2004— AER is pleased to announce its acquisition of Radex Inc., Bedford, MA for an undisclosed amount.

Since its founding in 1979, Radex has established a strong reputation in the areas of: communications; electromagnetic, chemical, and bulk interactions of space vehicles with the environment; detection of potentially adverse spacecraft; infra-red backgrounds; vehicle trajectories and attitude; and meteorological impacts. A company of approximately 35 employees, Radex currently provides analytical and computational support services simulating and predicting the near-Earth geophysical environment for defense related developmental and operational programs.

Radex’s capability in space weather complements and extends AER's expertise in conventional weather modeling, environmental prediction and remote sensing. AER’s involvement in major national environmental satellite programs, such as NPOESS and GOES, which serve both the terrestrial and space weather user communities, provides Radex a broader range of potential customers. Radex defense system simulation models are natural end user applications for AER research in atmospheric transmission modeling and environmental information derived from remote sensing data and advanced prediction models.

“The union of these companies will result in synergies to better serve our clients”, stated Cecilia Sze, President and CEO of AER. “We look forward to meeting the broader needs of our customers, from research and development to operational models extending from the earth’s surface to space.”
