AER, Inc. Launches 10-Day Ensemble Forecast

Lexington, Massachusetts – AER, Inc. launched their powerful, web-based, 10-day ensemble forecast tool, eCast, at the American Meteorological Society’s 32nd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology this week in Seattle, Washington. Designed for meteorologists interested in providing more accurate forecasts out to 10 days, this tool delivers the power of over 3,000 forecasts per city to their desktop daily, in an intuitive, easy to understand format. For the first time, forecasters can efficiently assess the powerful information of fifty-one runs of the world-renowned European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts global weather model.

eCast’s value is derived from proprietary techniques developed by AER to quality control, analyze, and process the volumes of ECMWF ensemble forecast data; similar, yet subtly different forecasts are transformed into valuable information. eCast’s web-based interface allows easy access to meaningful forecast ranges, timescales and visualizations for maximum and minimum temperatures, as well as the probability of precipitation, over the next 10-days.

“The amount of data available to today’s forecaster is overwhelming. They need tools that
quantify the certainty of what is known about the weather conditions out to 10 days. eCast does this for them,” stated Maria Pirone, Vice President for Commercial Division at AER.
