Cambridge Scientist
Presents Paper at Hong Kong Sustainability Conference
Dr. Nien Dak Sze, chairman and CEO of Cambridge-based Atmospheric
and Environmental Research, Inc. (AER) has been invited by the
Hong Kong government's Central Policy Unit to present his paper
on the sustainable development of China and Hong Kong on March
12 in Hong Kong. Sustainable development is building what is needed
in the present, without compromising our environment in the future.
"Achieving sustainable development in China and in Hong Kong is
an important issue, because what happens in those two countries
affects every country in the world," said Dr. Sze.
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Mario Molina is the keynote speaker
of the conference. Dr. Sze is part of a panel of distinguished
experts from the private and public sectors who will be presenting
their remarks following the remarks Professor Molina. Professor
Molina is also an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. The conference is the first of its kind in Hong
Kong, and is expect to be attended by over 250 people representing
government, industry and academia.
Dr. Sze, founder of AER, is well respected in the field of ozone
depletion and climate issues. He is one of the original developers
of one- and two-dimensional stratospheric models that simulated
ozone depletion resulting from the release of chemicals in the
atmosphere.
Founded in 1977, Atmospheric and Environmental Research is an
environmental research and consulting company. AER is an award-winning
company with demonstrated expertise in remote sensing, satellite
meteorology, numerical weather prediction, climatology, circulation
diagnostics, atmospheric chemistry, air quality and risk assessment,
mathematical modeling, planetary sciences, and system engineering.
