An Integrated Approach to Algorithm Design and Sensor System Simulation
For nearly 30 years AER scientists have worked with sensor manufacturers and system integrators to develop models/simulation tools used for the design, testing and validation of ground-based, airborne and satellite remote sensing systems. Over the years we have developed the Interactive Algorithm Tool Box (IATB), a multi-layered architecture designed to aid in the rapid implementation of models and datasets and provide a robust and efficient assessment of the overall system performance.
AER is uniquely qualified to assist in all aspects of the sensor lifecycle Ð from the design, development and optimization of sensor concepts, through testing, calibration and operational performance assessment, to validate and analyze radiometric and geophysical parameters. AER scientists are world leaders in atmospheric and oceanic modeling, including across-the-spectrum (ultraviolet through microwave) radiative transfer simulations, mesoscale meteorology forecast models, and complex air quality and turbulent dispersion modeling. Through the use of the IATB, geophysical models and databases can be coupled with sensor system parameters to provide a test and analysis infrastructure specifically tailored to the needs of the program. This allows for robust sensor and system simulation, testing, and validation against both simulated data and existing measurements and sensor systems.
