Dr. Salstein directs diagnostic studies of atmospheric and oceanic circulation at AER. He is well known for his contributions to the study of the exchange of angular momentum between atmosphere and solid Earth, and as such, is an active participant of the International Earth Rotation Service, having helped establish and operate its atmospheric component. He has been an investigator on a number of NASA, NOAA and NSF projects and missions relating to atmospheric circulation, Earth system dynamics, and climate variability.
