Radiation & Climate: Major Projects

Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program (ARM)
Comparison between measured cloudy DBIS spectrum in the 500-1500 cm-1 region (black) and synthetic brightness temperature spectrum (red) obtained with CHARTS/LBLRTM using mixed water/ice spherical particles. The total particles column density for this case is 25.5 g/m2. The spectrum in green has been generated by increasing water and ice concentration by 42% to better match the measured data in the 2500-3000 cm-1 region.
Comparison between measured cloudy DBIS spectrum in the 2500-3000 cm-1 region (black) and synthetic radiance spectrum (red) obtained with CHARTS/LBLRTM using same water/ice particles concentrations as above. The spectrum in green has been generated by increasing water and ice concentration by 42% to better match the measured data.
