Rui Ponte and Chris Little are co-authors of a new paper, published July 9 in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, entitled “River-discharge effects on United States Atlantic and Gulf coast sea-level changes”. The analysis was led by former AER oceanographer Christopher Piecuch, now at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).
Full of rainwater from Hurricane Irene, which drenched New England in August 2011, the Connecticut River sent large amounts of muddy sediment into Long Island Sound.
