Arindam Samanta

Working closely with customers, Dr. Samanta contributes to numerous innovations in products, services and scientific research. Arindam manages Verisk’s wildfire risk management product for the insurance industry, FireLineTM. He is intimately involved in developing and managing new products and services: AER RespondTM (tornado, and wildfire monitoring service), AER BenchmarkTM (hail), LOCATION Hail Damage Score and more.

His scientific expertise is in a broad array of research areas including advanced remote sensing, climate-vegetation interactions, carbon cycle, food production and security, and climate dynamics and change. He’s engaged in several scientific research projects, including NASA-funded research to develop flood-mapping algorithms from active and passive sensors, greenhouse gas inventory from flooded areas and wetlands. His research has been highlighted in national and international news media (including BBC, as well as Nature and Science magazines).

Dr. Samanta is a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), American Meteorological Society (AMS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Association of Wildland Fire (IAWF) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
