As cited in the Insurance Journal article, Hailstorms Are the Costliest Natural Peril in Texas, more than half of the total losses paid by Texas property/casualty insurers over the last 12 years have been weather-related, with hail as the most costly peril, according to the Texas Department of Insurance.

In an effort to further understand the impact of hail losses on Texas, which in recent years have been the highest in the country, The Texas Department of Insurance will be hosting a War On Hail Symposium. This one-day, first of it's kind, conference will bring together regulators, insurers and contractors to discuss the challenges of hail in order to address the peril more effectively.

AER's Joy Rohde, Director of Market Strategy, has been invited to sit on the "Tools and Technology" panel, where she will discuss some of the cutting edge solutions used by insurers and contractors today to become more responsive to their customers. Joy will discuss how weather analytics can be used to translate hail probability and severity into claims for insurers or demand estimations for contractors.
